Are you looking for something different to do during your Smoky Mountain vacation? If you’re seeking a memory-making experience, the town of Sevierville has you covered! From historic statues to record-breaking attractions, there’s no shortage of unique things to do in Sevierville TN. Here’s a list of some of our favorite one-of-a-kind experiences in Sevierville that you won’t want to miss:
1. Take a Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Sevierville
One of the most unique things to do in Sevierville TN is a historic walking tour of downtown! At the heart of downtown is the Sevier County Courthouse, which was built in 1895. On the lawn of the courthouse sits the iconic Dolly Parton statue, which was crafted by her hometown community to pay tribute to the country music legend. Dolly Parton once said, “One of the best things that ever happened to me in my whole career is the statue of me in the courthouse yard in Sevierville.” Also in downtown Sevierville is a mural of a young Dolly sitting in Red’s Cafe, showcasing the singer’s roots in her hometown. Make your way over to the Forks of the River Cemetery to see the graves of many of the town’s founding fathers and settlers. Be sure to also stop by the Sevier County Heritage Museum, which is housed in the original Sevierville Post Office building and features a variety of historic displays.
2. Drive Through the Harrisburg Covered Bridge
If you’re looking for unique things to do in Sevierville TN, hop in your car and head over to the Harrisburg Covered Bridge. This is one of only four historic covered bridges in the state of Tennessee! The bridge crosses the East Fork of the Little Pigeon River and is located off Old State Highway 35 near U.S. 411. The Harrisburg Covered Bridge is a king post truss design and spans 83 feet in length. This historic bridge was built in 1875 to replace the original bridge, which was destroyed in a flood that year. In 1975, the Harrisburg Covered Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Driving across a piece of history is a unique experience that you can’t find in many other places!
3. Glide Down the Longest Outdoor Tubing Hill in TN
One of the most unique things to do in the area can be found less than a mile outside of Sevierville in neighboring Pigeon Forge. When you make your way over to Rowdy Bear’s Smoky Mountain Snowpark, you can have a one-of-a-kind outdoor tubing experience. This attraction has the fastest and longest outdoor tubing hill in the state! The tubing hill is 500 feet long with a 70-foot drop, allowing you to reach speeds over 35 miles per hour. This makes for a truly exciting ride! Depending on the time of year you visit, you can enjoy winter snow tubing or summer tubing on this impressive outdoor tubing hill.
